WORKS

Twenty-four frames, chosen from what the single eye has already named.

01 — PASSING
The train refuses to hold anyone still long enough to be named.
02 — CLEARING
The forest has almost taken the wall back. He sits at exactly the edge it hasn't reached yet.
03 — TURN
Everyone else in the frame keeps walking. He is the one who turns to ask why he's being looked at.
04 — APERTURE
A staircase spirals toward one point of light — call it an iris, if you like.
05 — UNDER
The umbrella keeps her face for itself, and the lace decides to be seen instead.
06 — CROSSING
For a moment, the light bars the way — and lets him pass anyway.
07 — ARC
Underneath, the light falls in arcs, not lines.
08 — HELD
The plaza empties around her, but her face holds every year it has seen.
09 — COUNTER
Two backs at a counter, and the window keeps their secret.
10 — OPEN
He opens his mouth as if the street owes him an answer.
11 — AFTER RAIN
The plaza doubles her — once in the world, once in the water.
12 — RIDGE
The path insists on one direction. The sky says otherwise.
13 — ROBE
Everything around him has gone to shadow. Only the robe still argues for the sun.
14 — FLAT PLANE
Here, a body remains only as much as the ground allows.
15 — THE LINE
A man walks into the shadow he is already casting.
16 — SINGLE BEAM
Of all this shade, the light chose exactly one man to stand in.
17 — ENCLOSURE
The light draws a room with no walls, just for her.
18 — VEIL
The wind draws a veil of hair across her face, and for a moment refuses to name her.
19 — THE SLATS
The slats count him out, one bar at a time.
20 — RETURN
The rain rewrites the road twice — once falling, once reflected.
21 — THE SQUARE
The square was built for crowds. Today, it holds only one.
22 — THREE
Three shadows, one shape, walking out of the frame.
23 — NEAR
For once, the eye is close enough to see both of hers looking back.
24 — AGAINST THE SKY
Arms slightly open, as if the sky might still say something back.
